Overview
HealthArc integrates with Epic using SMART on FHIR and FHIR APIs. Before the integration can be completed, the healthcare organization must authorize the HealthArc application within its Epic environment using the HealthArc Client ID.
Prerequisites
Before beginning the integration, ensure you have:
An active Epic EHR environment
An Epic Technical Coordinator (TC) assigned to your organization
An Epic Security Analyst (if required by your organization)
Administrative approval to authorize third-party applications
A designated HealthArc implementation contact
Part 1 – Coordinate with Your Epic Team
Step 1 – Contact Your Epic Implementation Team
Begin by contacting your organization's Epic implementation team.
This typically includes:
Epic Technical Coordinator (TC)
Epic Application Analyst
Epic Security Analyst
These resources are responsible for authorizing third-party SMART on FHIR applications within your Epic environment.
Step 2 – Locate the HealthArc Application
Your Epic team can locate HealthArc using either of the following resources:
Epic Showroom
Search for: HealthArc
or
HealthArc RPM if applicable.
Showroom is Epic's marketplace for discovering compatible products and services.
Step 3 – Contact Epic Vendor Services (If Needed)
If additional assistance is required during the implementation process, your Epic team or implementation partner can work with Epic through the Vendor Services program.
Vendor Services portal: https://vendorservices.epic.com/
Organizations enrolled in Vendor Services can access implementation guidance, technical documentation, testing tools, and support.
Part 2 – Authorize the HealthArc Application
Step 4 – Provide the HealthArc Client ID
Provide the following Client ID to your Epic Technical Coordinator:
HealthArc Client ID
7ccd3ed7-7d77-4dd6-8550-557e4d815042
The Epic Technical Coordinator will use this Client ID to locate and download the HealthArc application record into your Epic environment.
Step 5 – Download and Approve the Application
The Epic Technical Coordinator will:
Sign in to the Epic on FHIR portal.
Locate the HealthArc application using the Client ID.
Download the client record.
Approve the application for the organization's Epic environment.
Configure the appropriate SMART on FHIR permissions and FHIR resource access required for HealthArc.
For applications using confidential clients or backend OAuth, additional information (such as client secrets or public keys) may be required from the application developer.
Step 6 – Configure Security and User Access
Your Epic implementation team will configure:
SMART on FHIR authorization
OAuth configuration
User access permissions
Launch configuration (if applicable)
Security review and approval
Some organizations may also require firewall, network, or proxy configuration before enabling the integration.
Part 3 – Notify HealthArc
Step 7 – Confirm the Application Has Been Authorized
Once your Epic team has completed the authorization process, notify the HealthArc Implementation Team.
If requested, provide:
Epic Organization Name
Epic Environment (Production or Non-Production)
Confirmation that the HealthArc Client ID has been imported and approved
Any organization-specific FHIR endpoint details (if applicable)
Part 4 – HealthArc Configuration
Step 8 – HealthArc Completes the Integration
After receiving confirmation, the HealthArc implementation team will:
Configure the Epic SMART on FHIR connection.
Authenticate against your Epic environment.
Validate API connectivity.
Verify patient and clinical data access.
Perform end-to-end testing.
Confirm successful synchronization.
Your Customer Success Manager will notify you once the integration has been completed.

The Epic Technical Coordinator is responsible for downloading and approving the application using the HealthArc Client ID.
Organizations using confidential clients or backend OAuth may need to exchange additional security information (such as client secrets or public keys) before activation.
Vendor Services is Epic's recommended program for vendors seeking implementation guidance, testing resources, and technical support.
