We are making a small but important improvement to how RPM and RTM active day billing works to better align billing with actual patient activity. This change better aligns billing with patients' real-world activity patterns, ensuring accuracy and fairness. It went live today (January 29) but applies retroactively to all patient activity starting January 1.
Going forward, active day billing will be calculated using a rolling 30-day billing cycle instead of resetting at the end of each calendar month. This means billing is tied to a patient’s actual activity period rather than the calendar.
For existing patients (onboarded before January 1, 2026) - Billing will be recalculated into rolling 30-day cycles (Jan 1 to Jan 30)
For new patients (onboarded on/after January 1, 2026) - The billing cycle will begin from the date of the patient’s first successful reading, not the onboarding date. Example: If a patient was onboarded on January 5 with first reading on January 7, their cycle runs from January 7 to February 5.
Note: There are no changes to time-based RPM or RTM codes, clinical workflows, device requirements, or pricing due to partial months. Billing remains calendar month-driven as before.
How You will See This in HealthArc Platform
You will see this reflected in the platform through clearer billing reports showing the active billing cycle and Date of Service, with dashboards aligned to the new 30-day logic.
A new "Active Days Cycle" column has also been added in the portal as well as the billing report.
Note: The existing "Active Days" column in the portal still follows old calendar-month logic (resets monthly). Example: Patient onboarded on January 5, first reading January 7, and took 7 readings by January 31 → "Active Days" shows 7 until January 31st and then resets to 0 on February 1. This is a known limitation Phase 2 of this development will fix.
Billing reports remain your source of truth for accurate Active Days counts until then.
Real-world example to make this easier
Patient was onboarded on January 6 but took their first reading on 7th January.
Billing cycle: January 7–February 5; with 8 total readings (assuming)
Billing month for codes: You will see the associated CPT code eligible for billing from February 1, and not until January 31, since their cycle ends in February.
